The basis of this research project utilizes a 1936 Tax Map Key representative of a portion of the Waipā ahupuaʻa. The original map is treated as a reference point and is used to overlay information obtained from source documents to map out the ahupuaʻa's water resources. Three versions of the Tax Map Key have been pivotal in the completion of this project and can be accessed for viewing below.

1936 TMK
This 1936 tax map depicts a portion of the Waipā ahupuaʻa in Haleleʻa, Kauaʻi. Since 1936, this map has had continuous changes made to it. The last edit for this particular TMK map was made in 1982.
Māhele Overlay
This version of the TMK map was edited by Mehana Vaughan. Utilizing māhele documents, this map color codes and identifies the names of land parcels found throughout Waipā.
Water Resources
This TMK Map shows the various water features that have been mapped as an outcome of this research. Kahawai (streams) are coded in light blue. Loko (ponds) are coded in dark blue. Loʻi are colored in green. ʻAuwai are represented in brown.
